by Kathy E. Triick

Dark eyes, barren mirrors

Of a hopeless heart,

He tries again

And again, and again.

His mind holds nothing

Except his tears,

His anger,

His confusion.

Beside him, my heart

Bleeds its own tears,

My anger,

My confusion.

I reach out,

Touch his shoulder,

And begin again.

Beyond frustration

Lies uncertainty…

Am I teaching

Or just being cruel?

Used with permission.
